The Company

The Company is a leader in the discovery and development of new small molecule pharmaceuticals for treating human diseases. Commencing in June 2001, The Company has used its proprietary discovery technology to build a portfolio of therapeutic product opportunities for metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, inflammation and oncology. The Company is located in Berkeley, California, just off interstate 80.

The Position

The Director/Senior Director, Clinical Development – Oncology will be a critical part of The Company’s development program reporting directly to the CEO.

The oncology franchise is part of the platform of differentiated clinical and pre-clinical stage programs.

Requirements

  • M.D. degree, or equivalent, with board certification/specialization in Oncology.
  • At least 5 years of relevant drug development experience, small molecule experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of personalized medicine and targeting subsets of patients within given indications.
  • Proven clinical development strategist with experience designing, implementing and conducting clinical trials, with emphasis on proof-of-concept studies but also potentially registration studies.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial oncology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and employ drug development strategic plans, to develop contingency plans, to provide technical and strategic advice, and to meet milestones and budgets.
  • Strategic leadership and tactical skills, excellent initiative and judgment, and the demonstrated ability to positively represent the goals of The Company.
  • Ability to interact with biologist and applying translational medicine aspects going into the clinic and taking learning from the clinic back to the lab.
  • Utilizing biomarkers as measures for exposure, target modulation and response evaluation.
  • Understanding of regulatory and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, and the ability to ensure compliance with these external guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal colleagues and external contacts, including key thought leaders, and investigators.
  • Ability to multi-task while working within a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Detail and team oriented with excellent cross-functional team leadership and participation skills.
  • High energy with strong organizational skills.
  • Highly self motivated a definite plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
